This is calathea 'medallion' and it's one of a handful of calathea's with a super unique leaf pattern.  It is truly a stunner of a plant, whether you have them as house plants or plant them in your landscape.  Some calathea's prefer low light while others can take bright light as long as it's moist and humid environment.   In the landscape we use calathea's as understory plants of tree and palm canopy's and in an area that does not get direct sunlight.  They grow really well around the edges of a pond or water feature as they get the mist of moving water.
 
These plants are super full in an 8 inch pot.
